Tapestries are HAND dyed without a template so each one is completely different and color shading may vary. This is true of all tapestries originating from India (98% of Tapestries sold in U.S.). There may also be a lingering smell from the ink/dyes used in creation. We suggest Febreze or a similar fabric refreshing spray upon receipt. Or, hang the tapestry outside for an hour or two and any remaining ink/dye smell will dissipate. You can machine wash your tapestry but we suggest air drying as cotton tends to shrink when dry heat is applied.
